What is Midlands Eye Care
Midlands Eye Care is a service for people with diseases and disorders affecting the eyes or vision. It is owned and managed by consultant ophthalmologists who have formed a partnership to provide a community eye service for the people of South East Staffordshire, South Derbyshire and surrounding districts.
What do we offer?
At our clinic in 59 New Street , Burton -on- Trent we provide
• Examination and treatment by accredited ophthalmologists (doctors who specialise in eye disease)
• Minor surgical procedures
• A contact lens fitting service
We undertake major eye surgery for cataract, glaucoma and strabismus at the Derby Nuffield Hospital
All the services we provide meet the recommendations and standards of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and other relevant institutions and government bodies, and we undertake regular audit of our work to ensure that we maintain these standards.
Are we accessible?
Our facilities are fully accessible to wheelchair users and include a disabled toilet. We have given particular attention to design and layout to meet the needs of people with vision impairment. We also have provision for patients with hearing impairment. Parking, including disabled parking, is available in three nearby car parks.
All our patient information, forms and any correspondence from us is available in large print. Also we give you the choice of how you would like to receive communication from us, whether by letter, fax, e-mail or telephone.
Do we listen?
We want to hear your comments and complaints so we know what we are doing wrong and can put it right. We also undertake a patient satisfaction survey every 6 months and display the results in our clinic. A copy is also sent to the Care Quality Commission.
Do we ensure confidentiality?
Of course! Patient records are kept secure and we comply with the requirements of the Data Protection act 1998. Any patient can have access to their records within 30 days from receipt of a request.
How much do we charge?
Patients are advised of the expected fee for the proposed consultation or treatment before their appointment (whenever possible) and will be invoiced on the day of each consultation or treatment.
